Gaucho

Refurbishment of a two-story steak restaurant overlooking the iconic Tower Bridge and Tower of London.  The brief included a refresh of the ground and first floors and to turn a relatively underutilised first floor events space into a usable dining space with bar and private dining room overlooking the local sights.

CTC were involved in the entire process from design collaboration with Conceptualise to the Project and Cost Management roles as well as gaining all landlord and statutory consents.  This project was completed with the restaurant closing for only 6 full days throughout a 10-week fit out.

After viewing the restaurant, we identified that the view of the local historic architecture was not maximised, in order to do this, we infilled a void between the two floors and moved some back of house areas to other locations.  This allowed us to place dining covers along the whole façade.  We relocated the existing staircase from the centre of the restaurant to a side wall and installed an additional BOH staircase so the kitchen on the ground floor could serve the increased capacity on the first floor.  The interior design evolved from the concept design of the previous refurbishments that we had undertaken at Piccadilly and Broadgate and the new site in Birmingham.
